Established in February 2007, the Supply Chain Innovation Centre (SCIC) is a joint initiative between GS1 Hong Kong and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) designed to provide the necessary infrastructure and environment to nurture the development and accelerate the adoption of RFID-based applications in supply chain, as well as to facilitate knowledge transfer with the ultimate goal to enable enterprises in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta (PRD) to boost operational efficiencies and become more responsive to market needs and, while bolstering overall economic competitiveness. To date, the Centre has attracted over 3,500 local and overseas business visitors.

Featured Showcases

The SCIC showcases the latest enabling technologies that can be applied at any point of the supply chain with the aim of achieving supply chain management excellence. It demonstrates how Electronic Product Code-based RFID technology can be applied in real-life business environments among key supply chain stakeholders, including manufacturers, logistics providers and retailers. One of the highlights is an EPC/ RFID based globalized track and trace community platform service - ezTRACK - which is designed to enable real-time visibility of goods and information from the point of origin to point of sale.

The Centre is primarily divided into 3 themed areas, namely Manufacturing Zone, Logistics Zone and Retail Zone with the latest EPC/RFID solutions for each stakeholder along the supply chain.

In the coming October, a new face of SCIC under the theme of "RFID Making Lives Better" will be introduced. The expanded exhibits centering on Clothing, Dining, Commuting and Living, will be characterized by the most up-to-date RFID applications designed with originality and innovation leading to a better quality of life.
